Olaf Koops MSc. is a co-founder and an economic researcher at the Netherlands Economic Observatory. Olaf studied econometrics at the University of Tilburg as well as Regional Economics at the Utrecht School of Economics. He started his career at TNO where he worked on analyses of economic performance of regions and sectors. While at TNO, he was also associated with the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency for the duration of a year. Olaf is also experienced in performing social cost-benefit analysis on investment projects and conducting economic impact assessment studies.
His research is based on a quantitative foundation where he applies data analysis and economic modelling. He has applied this on a variety of topics including mobility and infrastructure, technological innovation and regional agglomerations. He also does research on the creative sector and ICT. For instance he is a co-author of the bi-annual Monitor Creative Industry. Next to his job at NEO, he is also a board member of the Tennispark Walenburg.
